Our Background

CBERG serves as a vital platform for London-based Black employee-led networks and minority ethnic employee-led networks with a Black heritage sub-group. Our focus is on advancing the development and progression of Black professionals within the UK’s financial services sector.

CBERG offers these employee-led networks, from some of the world’s leading institutions, a unique opportunity to collaborate and drive the development and success of the Black community.

Objectives

  • Establish a community and extended support network for CBERG member firm Black employee-led networks.

  • Provide a platform for collective advocacy on behalf of Black professionals in the financial services industry.

  • Share best practices that support achieving our overall objectives.

Governance

The governance structure of CBERG is designed to promote transparency, inclusivity, and efficient execution of its mission. The structure now operates through a clearly defined framework composed of the wider membership and two sub-committees.

CBERG

The full membership body of CBERG plays a key role in shaping its direction by:

  • Providing input and feedback on initiatives.

  • Voting on major proposals submitted by the Advisory & Oversight Sub-Committee.

This sub-committee provides strategic leadership and oversight by:

  • Proposing policy and strategic changes.

  • Ensuring that activities align with CBERG’s overall mission and goals.

  • Monitoring implementation and recommending improvements.

  • Facilitating informed decision-making and coordination.

  • Offering high-level guidance to ensure smooth operations.

Execution Sub-committee

Tasked with operational delivery, this sub-committee is responsible for:

  • Implementing approved proposals and overseeing business-as-usual  activities.

  • Reporting progress and any challenges to the Advisory & Oversight Sub-Committee.

Feedback & communication mechanisms

Communication and transparency are supported through:

  • Regular updates shared between the sub-committees and the wider CBERG membership.

  • A structured process that allows members to propose ideas and express concerns.

  • Defined timelines for decision-making and implementation to ensure accountability.
