Upcoming Event: Black History Month Reception 2025

We are delighted to announce that the City of London Corporation, in collaboration with
CBERG (City Black Employee Resource Groups), will host this year’s Black History Month
Reception on Friday 3rd October 2025, from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at the historic Old Library,
Guildhall, London.

This special evening will celebrate the Black British experience and honour the contributions
of Black professionals across the financial and professional services sectors. Inspired by the
Met Gala, our 2025 theme — Standing Firm in Power and Pride — invites guests to
showcase their creativity and individuality through attire, whether through the elegance of
Black Dandyism, ancestral heritage, avant-garde style, or Afrofuturist imagination.
The evening will feature a special installation by renowned designer Melissa
Simon-Hartman, whose work has been showcased internationally, alongside prizes for the
most stunning interpretations of the theme. It will also provide an invaluable opportunity to
connect, celebrate, and shape conversations around inclusion and innovation within our
industry.

📩 For styling support, contact info@cberg.co.uk to receive a curated list of tailors and
services who can help bring your vision to life.
We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a powerful and inspiring evening
of celebration, style, and community.

Dual Dialogue at the Financial Times: Advocacy, Agency & Action

This month, CBERG was delighted to be hosted by FT Embrace at the Financial Times for a powerful event centered around the theme “Dual Dialogue – reclaiming power through agency, communication, and purpose.” The session featured thought-provoking insights from Andy Ayim MBE (Managing Director, Ayim Limited) and Frederik Afrifa (Co-Founder, Believe in Greatness), who explored the importance of inner work, self-advocacy, and building social capital.

We also heard from the AMOS Bursary, whose impactful five-year programme supports young people of African and Caribbean heritage from Year 12 onward, offering mentoring and opportunities to help shape their professional futures. In addition, we’re gearing up for our upcoming Black History Month celebration at Guildhall.

ADINKRA London

We're thrilled to share our recent experience with Adinkra London, an inspiring new venture that beautifully intertwines tradition and modernity. As members of CBERG,  we were honoured to be invited as guests to learn more about this upcoming company that promises to bring a fresh perspective to the cultural landscape.

At its core, Adinkra is dedicated to creating a space where creativity flourishes, and cultural heritage is honoured. The name "Adinkra" itself draws from the rich symbolic language of the Akan people, representing themes of wisdom, strength, and unity.

During our visit, we were struck by the founders' passion and commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and pride within the community. They aim to support local artisans and entrepreneurs, ensuring that their work is not only showcased but celebrated.
