About the Gala
A curated black-tie reception at Guildhall, City of London, honouring Black excellence and the cultural legacy of Black music in Britain.
This year’s gala ‘The Language Beneath Words’ opens in the Livery Hall with a choral invocation and ceremonial ribbon opening, before guests cross into the Crypts: three immersive listening worlds exploring how Black music has shaped Britain. Communion, Transmission and Futurity each tell a different chapter from gospel and roots reggae to sound system culture, grime, Afrobeats and beyond culminating in the Silent Clash, a synchronised live headphone moment, and an optional After Party.
